Epta Piges, or Seven Springs, is a beautiful natural area located about 32 kilometers from Rhodes Town. It is a lush valley full of pine and plane trees, fed by the waters of seven natural springs. The area is a cool and refreshing retreat from the hot Mediterranean sun, offering a serene environment for walking and relaxation. The water forms small lakes and streams, creating a unique ecosystem with abundant vegetation and a variety of birdlife.
The main attraction is the small dam and lake built by the Italians in the 1930s to provide water for the region. Visitors can walk along a picturesque stone path that leads to a tunnel, which is a major draw for adventurous explorers. The tunnel, also built by the Italians, channels water from the springs and is about 180 meters long. Walking through the dark, ankle-deep water is a memorable experience, but a flashlight is recommended. For those who prefer to stay dry, a path leads over the hill to the same destination.
Beyond the tunnel, the water cascades into a small lake where peacocks often roam freely. There are designated picnic areas and a traditional taverna where you can enjoy food and drinks under the shade of the tall trees. Epta Piges is a perfect destination for families and nature enthusiasts, offering a tranquil and scenic escape that showcases the island's natural beauty beyond its historical sites.
